5 Ways to Style a Blazer for Women

Ahh, the blazer. Brings me back to 1999 and the 14-year-old version of myself who wanted to look professional and put together. Yes, friends, that was me. And while my younger self made some questionable blazer choices, I learned something – a classic blazer never goes out of style. 20 years later, I’m still here with 5 ways to style a blazer for women!

I’ve had this navy blazer for 7+ years. It was one of my last fast fashion purchases from my old friend, Gap. You can read more about my thoughts on ethical fashion and why I made the switch here, but without any further reminiscing, I give you 5 Ways to Style a Blazer:

Graphic Tee

Such a great look! Instead of just jeans and a tee, you now just elevated your style with a blazer. Take this one anywhere – casual meeting, to the park, a casual office or out to run errands. Really, this might be my favorite look of them all.

The big takeaway: don’t be afraid to mix styles. You can pair something very casual with something a little more stately. It doesn’t have to match. It has to go.

Let’s just get one thing straight: it’s a classic, iconic look for a reason! Details like the Dallas Earrings and Chelsea Boots give it a modern feel.

I need a moment for this plaid button-up from Thom Kelly. I’ve never put a higher quality garment on my body. Ethically made in the USA, this organic-cotton and tencel shirt is the best. Hands down.

And I do not get paid to say that. I bought the shirt with my own money.

COLOR!

Styling a blazer does not have to be boring or cliche or traditional. Girls, we can add some color when we want to! Splash in that great scarf for a fun pop, mix in some neutrals and a pattern. There’s nothing stuffy about this look and it just works!

Takeaway: You don’t have to play by fashion “rules”. Take the colors you like and go for it! Don’t add everything at once and look in the mirror before you leave home. Tie accessories together like the gray in the earrings with the gray boots. Try something new.

Monochromatic

Navy and black! Oh yes, I did! You can mix the two. In the winter, I add a scarf for warmth, but this also works well in other seasons because the bodysuit under the blazer is a tank and breathable. In Spring, I’ll swap the boots for heels or mules.

There it is! 5 ways to style a blazer for women. It’s a classic piece you wear again and again. Don’t be afraid to try something new. You can wear a blazer on the weekend, for a date night, or night out with friends. Forget the rules and wear what you love.
