5 Slow Fashion Outfits for Summer Events

This seems to be the Spring and Summer for everything – from all the graduation ceremonies to casual weddings. I took the time now to figure out 5 slow fashion outfits for Summer events so you don’t have to. This will take the guesswork out and make getting dressed for events super easy.

Everything I’m sharing today is from do-good brands and ethical brands worth supporting. I have some promo codes to share too (below each outfit idea). Hopefully this will help give you ideas for styling your own closet and (if you are in the market for something new) resources for slow fashion companies to support.

Event 1: Preschool Graduation

First event on my list was preschool graduation. My sweet little daughter graduated from preschool this year and was so excited to help me choose a dress to wear. She picked this fun floral print dress (yay for pockets) and yellow Sela Designs earrings.

I love having one or two pairs of versatile Summer sandals that can easily pair with skirts and dresses. This pair is a couple years old, but I linked a similar style. Also, a small crossbody bag with an adjustable strap is my go-to for everyday. I can wear it all different ways just by adjusting the strap. Small bags also make it very easy to change bags if I need to quickly.

Sizing info: the dress runs TTS (true to size). I was between sizes and went with the smaller size since I’m smaller on top than bottom and the dress has a slight A-line.

Event 2: Casual Wedding Reception

My cousin got married in another state, but is having a reception in June for all of the family who didn’t attend. It’s pretty casual, not your typical semi-fancy wedding so I’m going with a skirt (also has pockets) and breezy tank. Again with the classic brown sandals and bag – easy peasy.

Sizing info: the skirt sizing is true to the size chart. I went a small. The top is also a small and the fit is just right.

Event 3: High School Graduation

My nephew is graduating from high school and I’m excited to wear this for his graduation. If I had a Summer wedding to attend I’d also wear this dress & maybe swap out the sandals for block heels. This is one of my favorite dresses ever. It’s reversible (this is technically the back, see the front view and full review here), has pockets & is the perfect midi length. I made this tiered dress more casual with accessories – wood accent leather earrings, leather belt & flats.

Sizing info: if you have a smaller bust (like me), I recommend sizing down in this dress. Again, full review is here if you’d like more details.

Event 4: College Graduation

I wasn’t kidding about all of the graduations this year! We have 3 official ceremonies & one casual elementary school grad. This is the outfit I wore for my sister’s graduation – she just completed her Master’s program and this top felt a little extra fancy. I’ve been eyeing this slow fashion brand for ages & snagged this top for a steal on Poshmark. I plan to wear it everywhere this summer.

Sizing info: this top is in European sizing. I went with a 38 which is equivalent to a US Small or 4/6. I think a 36 would’ve been too snug on my broad shoulders so I’m glad I stuck with 38. The pants are my favorite black wide legs and I sized down one size. They do have a little stretch over time, but not baggy.

Size note on the shoes: I love Nisolo shoes, but they run narrow and take a little time to break in. I think they are worth the break in and love the quality. If you have wider feet, size up.

Event 5: Catch All

This is my catch all outfit: Middle School graduation events, baby shower guest, Saturday brunch, parties, etc. I needed one more option and could not resist this top. It’s such a fun color & I’m loving the eyelet texture. I was nervous it would be too cropped for me, but it’s perfect with high rise skirts and jeans – fully covers my mid section.

Sizing tips: top & skirt run TTS. I’m wearing a small in both. The buttons on the linen skirt are fully functional & obviously the pockets are essential. I’m pretty strict about always having skirts and dresses with pockets because #momlife.

5 Slow Fashion Outfits for Summer Events!

That’s all five slow fashion outfits for Summer events. I’m a proud outfit repeater and also plan to recycle these for date nights and church. The tops can mix and match a bit especially with the wide leg black pants and linen skirt.
