7 Non-traditional Holiday Outfits

If there’s anything I know about 2020 it’s that everything we thought we knew has changed and so we either freak out or roll with it. I’m doing a little of both! ha! I’m guessing the holiday season will be no different so here are 7 non-traditional holiday outfits ranging from loungewear to a stunning dress. Whatever style you are feeling – go with it! Hope these ideas give you some inspo.

Sizing: I’m 5’7″, typically a small on top and 28 or 6 on the bottom.

1. Black Denim + Button-Up + Gold Jewelry

Vera Earrings / Gold Necklaces / Top / Jeans / Loafers

You should probably know I’m not much for theme outfits. I prefer classic pieces with pops in accessories. Here I went with my favorite forest green top, lots of sparkle in my gold accessories, comfy jeans (need a little stretch for all of the eating I’ll be doing) and a great pair of loafers.

2. Sweatshirt Jacket + Plaid + Ponte Leggings

We’ve been wearing leggings all year why stop now??? When you invest in a great, high-quality pair of leggings they look as good as real pants but feel like comfy-cozy PJs. This is literally the only pair of leggings I own & I wouldn’t change it. See more ways I’ve styled them here.

Sizing: the jacket is slightly oversized. I’m wearing my usual size small. The top is a small as well. The leggings are size 6 and the boots are 1/2 size bigger than usual as they run small.

3. Fancy Sweatshirt + Statement Earrings

Claire Earrings / Gold Necklaces / Top / Chinos / Boots

I’m all in with the loungewear at this point! Stay with me here – this v-neck is the softest thing I’ve ever put on my body. Is it loungewear or a fancy shirt? I’ll never tell. Thanksgiving dinner here I come! I’m wearing my usual size small.

4. The dress of all dresses

Let me tell you about this dress… I put it on for the first time a couple weeks ago and said, “WOW! I have no where to go and no reason to wear a dress, but I want to live in this thing.” Yes, it’s that good. You’re welcome for sharing it with you.

I’m wearing my usual size small. I might have even been able to size down to an XS. If you are between sizes I’d recommend sizing down. Also, POCKETS! Yep! And wear it two ways – hence my inability to limit the photos to just one. 🙂

5. Classic LBD + Flannel

Another comfy dress and maybe the most theme based of all my outfits! Bring on the Christmas flannel! It’s comfy and warm so I’m in. Plus, this flannel provides freedom to women in the USA who are trapped in sex trafficked. WIN – WIN!

6. Best Sweater + Distressed Jeans + Boots

Wren Earrings / Turtleneck / Sweater / Jeans / Socks / Boots

This is such a me outfit! No doubt about it. I would wear it any day of the week, but I think the pops of warm tones in my Cognac Wren Earrings + the orange socks make it great for a casual family Thanksgiving (even if it’s just your immediate family).

Don’t get me started on the boots. I love them. I sized up to an 8 as I do in all Nisolo boots. They tend to run a bit narrow for me. I think I could’ve gotten a 7.5 in this style, but once I had them in my possession I was not about to send them back and wait for another size. These were gifted to me from Nisolo, but I already had them on my wishlist!

7. LOUNGEWEAR 2020 Style

Denver Earrings / Elle Necklace / Waffle top / Waffle Joggers / Socks (similar)

I’m calling this the official 2020 Holiday outfit. Haha! I mean really, my family doesn’t care what I’m wearing. They want to spend time with me and enjoy the many blessings we’ve been given. At the end of a very busy season & all the crazy this year has brought I just want to be comfy cozy.

So this is my Christmas outfit. I’ll be on the floor playing with my kids, drinking way too much coffee & enjoying every minute of it. I hope you’ll do the same.

Sizing notes: I’m wearing size small in both pieces. The pants run large. I have plenty of room in these. If you want a more fitted look, size down! And if your backside is not as plentiful as some of us (me) I would definitely size down.
