9 Denim Skirt Outfit Ideas

A denim skirt is so classic and fun to style in every season! Today I quickly came up with 9 denim skirt outfit ideas & I think I could’ve added 15 more, but thought that might be overkill… maybe another post for another day! Haha!

Here’s my favorite part about this skirt – it’s a Lee skirt probably from the 1990s that I thrifted and cut a raw hem. The denim is thick and has a great vintagey texture to it. The super high rise is maybe the best part. It’s seriously so perfect. I got the idea to cut the hem from WellFibre on Instagram a couple summers ago.

Sizing: I don’t know what size the skirt is and vintage sizing is totally different than today’s, so my advice when thrifting: try it on or risk nothing working for you. And I’m typically a size small on top.

Jewelry: all of my jewelry, as always, is from my non-profit Sela Designs. I’m wearing these necklaces in the photos and I’ll tag the earrings on each one: Marcie (choker 14″ length), Elle (link chain adjustable length), and Known (with 4 discs for my kids 18″ length).

1. White Tee

I love a good white tee and denim! This one is from Fair Indigo and is TTS. I’m wearing a small.

This headband is from BizzyBCrafts. It’s the Almond Tie Scarf. I just got it and I’m amazed by how well it stays put! I didn’t adjust it all day long and it didn’t get uncomfortable. Skip the department store accessories & shop small. 🙂

2. Sweater

Just a me and my fav sweater of all time. It literally matches everything and looks great tucked or untucked. I’m wearing a small.

3. Long Sleeves

This top is from another of my fav brands – Elegantees, sewn by survivors of sex trafficking. Sizing tip for Elegantees: anytime the description says “relaxed cut” I size down. I’m wearing an XS.

4. Linen

Talk about a bomb thrifted outfit! I got this NotPerfectLinen top secondhand. This top is regularly fitted, so I’m wearing a large for an over sized fit. Also, when you find high quality linen secondhand you can’t really be choosy about the size. Make it work!

5. Tied Crop

This is the Terra Top from Elegantees. It’s made to be tied so the fabric is extra long on the bottom. I sized down to XS in this one too.

Let’s talk about this killer leather bag! It was handmade in Detroit by women with barriers to traditional employment. Besides wearing it on the shoulder, as a cross body or backpack, it’s also made to strap onto bicycle handles. So great!

6. Oversized button down

This is my favorite outfit of all. This top is so darn comfy. I’ll be wearing it for Spring, Summer & Fall. Paired with the only heels I own, it’s perfect for a night out. And don’t get me started on the Dalmatian statement earrings. I love this outfit so much.

7. Graphic Tee

Perfect mom on the go skirt outfit! Comfy shoes and a hat to cover all the dirty hair. The tee fits TTS. I’m wearing a small.

8. Sweatshirt

Perfect for cool mornings, I’m wearing this sweatshirt in a medium. It’s slightly cropped & pairs well with high rise bottoms.

Size note on the sandals: these huarache sandals are my favorite pair, but they do stretch a lot so I sized down & had to spend a few weeks breaking them in. Now they fit like a glove.

9. Tank

This tank runs big. I sized down to an XS and still have plenty of room. It is thicker cotton and really well made. This tank is old, but I linked a similar one from the same company.

Same bag as above in two other styles. It originally was a wallet and they added a strap to make it convert to a cross body or fanny pack. I have been carrying this as my day to day bag for a year and I love it. I grab my bucket bag if I need to carry a bunch of stuff & toss this inside as a wallet.
