Sick of wearing sweats and leggings? Dresses and Summer go hand and hand. They are easy to throw on and go. I’ve scoured my favorite slow fashion brands worth supporting to find Summer dresses at all different price points and styles that work for real life. I own all of these dresses and can attest to their quality, comfort, and washability (that’s key for mom life). Here are slow fashion dresses for Summer that I’m wearing:

1. Maxi Dress
This is the Tyler Strappy Maxi dress from ABLE is so comfortable. It also has pockets. The fabric is not shear, but it’s a lightweight, breathable gauze. It’s easy to dress down with white sneakers or casual sandals. I’ve thrown on a denim jacket with it when I’m sitting in A/C or on cool mornings. I’ve also dressed it up with block sandals for date night.
I’m wearing my true size small, but if you have an ample bust you will definitely want to size up. This dress is great for those of us with a small bust. If you can go braless I can’t recommend these enough – so comfy all day long.
2. Smocked Tiered Dress
Possibly the most versatile dress I own, the Smocked Tiered Dress from Vetta capsule is nothing short of amazing. The straps can be adjusted for length and style. The smocked top is gorgeous, but also very forgiving. I shared 4 ways to style this dress (including as a skirt) here.
3. Reversible Midi Dress
Another versatile option – the Birdie Dress is reversible. I love the ties. This dress is beautifully made with a linen/tencel blend fabric that is a very sustainable option & great to wear. The fabric is heavier than pure linen so it’s not the best for extra warm, humid climates like FL summers, but it’s great for moderate summers. I did a full review of it here. Sizing tip: this dress is meant to be an oversized fit. I sized down to an XS.
4. Short Sleeve Maxi (under $75)
I like to have the options of sleeves with a Summer maxi dress in case I don’t want to add a layer or if the weather is a little cooler. This dress is a faux wrap and the tie can go in front or back. It would be perfect for nursing or mid-pregnancy too. Of course it also has pockets because that’s a must. I’m loving this green for every season. It’s just as gorgeous in person as on the screen.
Sizing info: I stayed with my usual size small in this dress. I think the sizing is slightly generous, as is typically true with Elegantees. If you are between sizes I recommend sizing down.
5. Muscle Tee Dress
Such a classic muscle tank dress here. Summer dressing doesn’t get any easier than this. When I’m looking for a classic piece I’m always hunting for quality fabrics and construction. This dress is exactly that – made from 100% cotton that’s soft and high quality. It’s not shear in the least bit, which I love.
I’m wearing my usual size small. This dress is available in a lot of colors. I’m tempted to get it in more colors. It works well as a swim coverup too.
Tip: If you want to wear shorts under this one I recommend a really short, booty short (link for shorts 2.5″ inseam) vs. a 4″ biker short. For lighter colored dresses choose shorts in a color that is as close as you can find to your skin tone. White is far more visible than skin tone colors.
6. Midi Tee Dress
Another great t-shirt dress style. This one is in a midi length. I’m 5’7″ so if you are petite this would be a full length maxi dress on you. It’s has a straight fit with 15″ slit on both sides. It’s very well made from 100% cotton. This is another high quality piece that will last for many years. The fit is true to size (TTS).
7. Classic T-shirt Dress (under $60)
This classic cotton t-shirt dress is beautifully made. It’s a high quality cotton that’s not at all shear. The length is great. It curves at the waist and hips to give some shape, which I appreciate in a t-shirt dress. I’m wearing my usual size small. It would also be great belted with a fun hat and sneakers. This exact color is going to be restocked soon, but other colors are available now.
8. Sunday Dress
This is one of my favorite dresses this Summer. I love the pockets. It’s made sustainably from recycled rayon fabric, which makes it really lightweight and breezy for hot days. It’s great for a baby or wedding shower, brunch or Sunday at church. I’m wearing my usual size small, but if between sizes I would recommend sizing up. I did a full review of the dress here.
9. Office Ready Dress
It’s been a minute since I’ve been office ready, but when I found Parallel 51 recently I was ready to jump back into a 9 to 5. The style is classic with modern details. This dress is high quality, well-made and perfect for a professional environment. Take it from work to the weekend easily by adjusting the buttons or it can also be worn as a duster over jeans and a tee. No joke, when I opened the package from Parallel 51 I said “WOW!” It was such a great find thanks to the IG algorithm.
The sizing on this dress is a little different: 1, 2, 3 & 4. I followed their size chart and went with size 3 (US size 6). The fit is true to size. Check out their full capsule collection here.
10. Cozy Swing Dress
This swing dress is made of the coziest sustainable tencel fabric. It’s soft and drapey, easy to wear. If you are looking for a swing dress with sleeves this is a great option. I’m wearing my usual size small & it’s a great fit. I like to add a belt to add shape at the waist or with the matching cardigan for cool mornings. I’m wearing it as I write this blog. 🙂
