If you want to wear something a little extra festive this Fourth of July holiday, join me in bringing some red, white and blue sizzle to a sustainable outfit. I prefer high-quality, classic pieces in my wardrobe and to use accessories to jazz it up. Here are my 4th of July sustainable outfit ideas with basic pieces from my closet and accessories from Sela Designs.
Sizing: for reference I am 5’7″. I typically wear small on top and 28 or 6 on the bottom. I have a long torso.
1. Stripes
What’s more classic than navy stripes? Nothing. Paired with distressed jeans (my favorite for summer) and great red earrings you can’t go wrong.
This tee is from the Elegantees Way Maker Collection. I’m wearing my usual size small. It has a relaxed fit. Size down if you are between sizes or want a fitted look. Use code SELADESIGNS for 10% off any Elegantees purchase.
2. Red, White & Blue Accessories
I’m not usually a ruffles kind of girl, but this top is perfection on. It’s lightweight for Summer and long enough for my torso. I’m wearing a small. Use code SELADESIGNS for 10% off.
These shorts are from Madewell. They come cuffed, but I steamed out the fold for a true cut-off style. I sized up to a 29 although I could have stayed with my usual 28. I like my shorts extra roomy.
3. Romper
I love a good romper. This one is ethically made from Liz Alig. I’m wearing a small, although I feel like a medium would be fine too. The fabric is really silky smooth and feels cool, perfect for July temps.
4. Long Shorts
Long shorts are making a comeback! I ordered these recently from Everlane and they do not disappoint. Honestly, I thought I might hate them on, but good grief, they are a welcomed change and so comfortable! I was very pleasantly surprised.
I’m wearing the shorts in my usual size 28 and they have plenty of room, especially in the waist. I would not size up in these. If you are smaller on bottom than top you might consider sizing down.
5. Classics
I feel like this is the classy 4th of July look. Maybe it’s the mules or the button down. Either way, great option for red, white and blue without being over the top.
I’m wearing the shorts in my usual size 28 and the top in Small. The top has a very roomy fit and I’m thrilled with it.
6. Fun
This tank is so fun! I hunted it down on Poshmark last summer. It’s a little wild for my usual style, but I love the fringe.
These denim shorts are the same as the white ones above, but a size up (29). They are my most worn summer shorts.
7. Hat
Dear Preemptive Love, you are my favorite. That is all. (Love Anyway Hat and Tank are from Preemptive Love.)
I’m wearing the tank in size small. It has over-sized armholes to beware of that when purchasing. I’m wearing a cami under for this photo, but I need to figure out a better bralette or something for future wear.
There you have it! 7 Fourth of July sustainable outfit ideas you can easily put together if you have some great basics in your closet. Need some fun accessories? I know a place! Sela Designs has the best jewelry around. 😉
