I recently shared a picture of an oversized, short-sleeve button-up shirt I was loving for Spring and Summer. I got a message that went something like this, “that top is so cute, but how the heck would you style it for Summer?” And so, this post was born: How to Wear an Oversized Button-Up.
Tradlands Box Top:
I’m wearing the Tradlands Box Top in size Medium (I sized up). I can’t get over how great the drape of this fabric. I bought the top a couple of months ago during a sale, hoping it would work for me & it is way better than I expected.
Tradlands pieces are ethically made and a bit of an investment. Their quality is top-notch and each piece is thoughtfully made – this top has more buttons than you’d usually find on a button-up so it doesn’t pull or pucker. If you are adding a Tradlands piece to your closet use the code ASHLEIGH15 to save 15%.
1. Under a Sweater
I can’t get enough of this outfit. The sweater is also from Tradlands and has been the perfect sweater for transitioning to Spring/Summer. I’m wearing my usual size small.
2. Tucked in a Skirt
Maybe the best skirt ever! It’s comfy, has pockets, and is the perfect length. This exact color is sold out, but there is one other left & I’m working on Elegantees to bring it back in another collection!
3. Elastic Waist Bottoms
The epitome of comfory meets cute. I love the elastic waist on these shorts from Everlane and the pockets. This is the new version. They had something similar last year, but they were shorter. This length works a lot better for mom life IMO.
4. White Denim
Pretty classic look here! White denim is pretty great year round, but especially good in the Spring and Summer. I did just a front tuck with the button up and I love the casual vibe. Perfect for the weekend.

5. Denim Shorts
Denim shorts are my uniform in the Summer. I will literally wear 2 pairs non stop. I love having the option of something a bit nicer than a tank, plus I like the breathable fabric that covers my sunburn prone shoulders.
6. Knot It
I feel like that knot adds just a bit of sass. The distressed jeans kick that into full gear. I like it. Distressed jeans are my go-to right now.
7. Date Night
Can’t forget about the occassional date night. I love this denim skirt that I thrifted and cut for the perfect raw hem. The button-up is effortlessly tucked and I added heels to feel fancy, but you could go with flats too.
